Commercial sunscreens often contain toxic ingredients and most carry warning labels. A safer, natural choice can be found with essential oil infused products. The Drops of Gold recipe (see recipe below) which has a sun protection level of about 15%, is an all-natural alternative.

Essential oils that are known as sun protectors include helichrysum and lavender. The ingredients in the ART Skin Care system are also sun protective. Applying a bit of the ART Day or Night lotion to the face, neck and shoulders, along with a good hat and shirt could really save your day.

Sunburns - Lavenderm Cooling Mist is your best friend for quenching the heat and pain of a sunburn. This aloe vera and lavender combo puts out the fire and promotes healing to damaged skin. Always keep a bottle of Young Living Lavender handy for really bad burns wether from the sun, the grill or campfire. Be sure to drink lots of NingXia Red when sunburned, as minerals are lost and NingXia Red is a great and tasty way to put them back into the body. The ART skin care Night lotion, and Boswella Wrinkle Cream also feed the skin deeply.

Heat Stroke - Avoid It
Staying well hydrated is probably the most important step in avoiding heat stroke. Your body looses water to evaporation, breathing and sweating. There are also some people who do not sweat, which is also the action of cooling the body so these people can also be at risk for over-heating. Stay cool by adding peppermint to your drinking water - one to two drops per 16 ounces water. Have a misting bottle of water and peppermint oil to spray on face, with eyes closed,, arms, legs, back of neck, etc. Peppermint mist recipe: 2 ounces purified water, 4 drops peppermint oil. Shake and spray. Recipe may be doubled for larger spray bottles. Lavederm Cooling mist can also be used to cool an over heated person. Both are refreshing on a hot day, even if you are just doing errands.

Drops of Gold
Before there was A.R.T. and the Essential Beauty Serums, I created Drops of Gold to nourish and hydrate the skin. Hundreds of women still stand by this favorite beauty treatment that you can make yourself.

This recipe makes five 1/2 ounce bottles. You may cut the recipe in half if you do not have that many friends you will bless with this exceptional formula. Use only 2-3 drops of this formula on your face, dotting all over and gently massaging in. Now that we have Palo Santo - my Drops of Gold will also have added 10 drops of Palo Santo into the mix.

1 ounces almond oil
1/2 ounce Jojoba oil
1ounces Evening Primrose Oil
20 drops of Vit. E oil

24 drops Patchouli
12 drops Geranium
20 drops Frankincense
8 drops Rosewood
8 drops Lavender
3 drops Rose
5 drops Palo Santo (not part of the original recipe, but I love it, so now am adding it.

Combine the carrier oils in a glass measuring cup. Drop in the oils in the order listed. Carefully swirl to blend. Pour into 1/2 ounce or one ounce bottles with droppers.

Other sun protective natural items are:

Zinc Oxide (coated): A nano particle coated Zinc Oxide is not photo-reactive and will not produce hydroxylions (free radicals). UV natural zinc does not absorb into the blood stream and affect serum zinc levels. You can find zinc oxide sun protective products at stores, just make sure they do not contain harmful ingredients. Zinc assists in the growth and repair of skin tissue. Acts as a broad spectrum UV (A,B,C) deflector. Make sure your multi-vitamin contains zinc - Young Livings: True Source, Master His/Hers.

Sesame Oil:
A valuable moisturizer and skin conditioner rich in Vitamin A (Sesamum indicum oil) and E. High in antioxidants sesame oil assists in protection against sun damage. It is also a natural deflector of UV as it has a natural SPF.

Grape Seed Extract: Promotes cell repair, growth and is one a powerful antioxidant. Provides a source of Vitamin D and assists in protection against free radical damage from UV radiation.

Wolfberry: With the highest anti-oxidant levels in nature, wolfberry infused lotionsare great skin protectors. Apply some Boswellia Wrinkle and Wolfberry Eye Cream to your face and neck before heading into the sun.

Grape Seed Oil: Significantly more antioxidant activity than Vitamin C, E and refined Beta Carotene. Contains the highest amount of Linoleic Acid of all expeller, cold pressed oils.

Macadamia Oil: Closest in comparison to the oil we lose from our skin as we age. It nourishes the skin and locks in moisture-replenishing fatty acids. Prevents and reduces signs of aging. Works in conjunction with antioxidants to retain the integrity of the collagen and elastin in preventing wrinkles and aging.

Safflower Oil:
High content of omega oils, nourishing to the skin and has a natural SPF. This oil is very rich and assists in nourishing and helps in
moisturizing the skin where sun damage may have already occurred.

Vitamin E: Protects body tissues from breakdown and signs of photo aging. Excellent moisturizer and has scar healing qualities.

LEMON CHICKEN

1 whole chicken
1 cup lemon juice
3 teaspoons sugar
saffron
cardamon
750 ml (about 3 cups) Watkins Chicken Soup (per instructions)
5 largely cubed potatoes
flour
5 tablespoon Watkins Grapeseed oil

Shallow fry whole chicken in Grapeseed oil to seal in flavour. Remove chicken from the pot after it has turned golden brown and set aside.

Prepare sauce in the same pot that chicken was cooked in by sprinkling flour into the oil left behind from the chicken; add cardamon, saffron, and pour in the Chicken Soup.

Make sure soup is added slowly so that the flour turns into a paste.

When all of the stock has been added, mix in the lemon and sugar. Then add the chicken with the cubed potatoes and simmer for 1 hour on medium heat, stirring at 15 minute intervals.
